MY 2003 3.8L V6 BASE MUSTANG AUTOMATIC HAS AN OIL LEAK AT THE REAR MAIN OIL SEAL. BEFORE I HAVE IT REPAIRED BY SHOP MECHANICS, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR THIS AUDIENCE. HAS ANYONE USED THE BLUE DEVIL SEALANT FOR THIS PROBLEM? IF SO, CAN I GET YOUR PROS AND CONS? ALSO ANY OTHER ADDITIVE USED FOR THE SAME PURPOSE. THANKS, ABNER

I used it on a 2004 Chevy 4cyl years ago, took two doses of it and it slowed it way down but it didn't completely stop it. Plan on making sure the shop you use puts a repair sleeve on the crank, I have a 2004 3.9 and I replaced the seal during a trans swap and had a slight groove in the crank. I couldn't get a repair sleeve at the time and needed the car so I put a new seal in and it lasted couple yrs and started leaking again...
The rear seal is basically a rubber grommet with a spring inside that holds it tightly to the crankshaft to seal. If it is leaking that means the rubber has worn away, there is nothing there to "fix", you need a new seal.
That said, these seals really shouldn't leak. I changed mine at 200k miles and it looked fine. Where most oil leaks come from on these motors is the rear of the lower intake manifold. Right above the transmission so it runs straight down and drips out the bottom of the transmission bellhousing (and hence looks like a rear seal leak). It is really hard to see that area since it is right up against the firewall and the sparkplug wires also run through there. Check that area first before you pay someone to mess with the rear seal.

We may deal with a similar issue on my friend's 2004 project. He's been wanting one and this one came up cheap with rear main seal leak. We got to finish installing the suspension and tis wheels on the truck this weekend before we can clear the garage and take her in,
