Have we been going about it all wrong ? I've been trying to hunt down main studs this week, and everyone has a girdle or studs with a few washers between the cap and girdle .I've spoken or emailed Tom ,Mik ,Tom m ,Heath and got mixed information so i made a few calls out to arp .i called twice to get a second opinion first time i got Sam Benson and then Chris Brown both of them were shocked at how we have been doing it and don't recommend there studs being used this way. Both said we are better off with stock bolts .with the clamping force at the very top and not at the main there is a tendency for the main to move around ,what they want us to do is simple stack main -washer- nut -washer- girdle - washer -nut .that way the mains are tied down and the girdles can do there job of support and not holding the main in place . there is a catch a one off set is pricey 26 a stud plus a 400 dollar tooling charge.they said if they get enough interest they will make a sku or we can run off a few sets for a group buy, there is a 3-4 week turn around .they have all the info in a 01+ 3.8's now in there system depth counter bore to threads ,pitch, length , main and girdle height etc etc so i was wondering have we been doing it wrong ? could we get a group buy going or maybe we all could show some interest and get them to make a kit for us without a tooling charge .I'll be send a copy of this link over to both of them so they can see first hand if there is any interests in a kit
